Somehow that reminds me of the "award" that you won last time. And which you so generously distributed amongst the few remaining members here. ;-) Made two offers on boats, both substantially below the asking price. One for a Privilege 430, where I offered US$139,000 (27% below) and another for a Lagoon 37 where I offered US$100,000 (20% below). Don't think anything will happen, but you never know..... Cheers! About that prestigious award: the document is pinned to my study wall.
Once upon a time I had a book published and made $3.40 in royalties. That cheque is also pinned to the wall P.S. The Privilege looks fabulous ... and five feet might make a BIG difference, eh? |

Yup. Nobody much likes trimarans anymore, because they simply cannot offer the accommodation and comfort of a catamaran the same size. That's most likely the reason why the price on that one went down, down, down.
And on top of that problem, a modern yacht has to have a proven name to get a good price. I know that numerous Privilege, Catana, or Fountaine-Pajot cats have circumnavigated and sailed around Cape Hoorn, and so I wouldn't worry about the seaworthiness of one of those. If it is an unknown design, I would have to do some very serious homework before I would even start to consider one. Multihull design is not something you can simply pick up as so many people used to think. It takes quite a few years of experience (trial and error) to get good at - just like everything else. |
